About Me

My name is Havoq Luscivia, and I created GLITLICKER eco-friendly glitter.

This biodegradable or compostable glitter is made from plant cellulose, vegan-friendly, just as sparkly as (if not more so than) the glitter you've been using, but without the harmful environmental impact of microplastics! Cosmetic grade and softer on the skin, and usually strong enough to withstand most artistic applications, this glitter is an incredible and innovative eco-friendly alternative to plastic-based glitters.

I had the idea to create a small business of eco-friendly glitter while producing Behind the Zion Curtain Cabaret show at The Beehive, a booze-free punk venue tucked at the back of a little plant based restaurant in Salt Lake City, Mark of the Beastro at 666 S. State St.

Over the months I watched incredible performer after incredible performer do absolutely stunning acts with glitter -- pouring glitter all over themself in a dramatic finish (to the sparkly dismay of the stage crew), painting their skin and highlighting with glitter, putting the finishing touch on their dramatic red glitter lips -- and cheered for every performer, always in awe, but simultaneously feeling a bit guilty that so many microplastics have been scattered all over my show, and wondered if we can keep being this sparkly while protecting the environment from such a harmful product.

There had to be a better way.

So I did hours upon hours of research, talked to people in my community (drag queens and burlesque dancers KNOW glitter, y'all), and discovered there IS an abundance of eco-friendly alternative glitter options, and they look GOOD, they're just not accessible. So with the support of my community (and maybe a little urging from the wonderfully ethical practices of the venue and the restaurant I shared space with), I started a small business.

The name GLITLICKER comes from a pun someone teased me with, and out of wanting to highlight (get it?) my own background as a queer performer and sex industry worker, I went with it. All that was left to do was pour the eco-friendly glitter into environmentally sustainable pots, find a cute suitcase to work out of, pack it full of all the pretty colors I could carry, and take it to all the events, cabarets, pop-ups, punk rock flea markets, and festivals I could find.

And now, here we are. Spreading eco-friendly glitter wherever I go.

If you have questions about exactly what the stuff is made from, how to use it, how long it takes to break down, what the differences are between compostable and biodegradable, or anything at all, feel free to check out Education for FAQ's or articles we've written, or Ideas for ways to use it. I hope you love using GLITLICKER eco-friendly glitter as much as I loved creating it!
